Guayabas

While I wait for mango season to return, I've been obsessing about guavas. They're native, available year-round, have an intoxicating scent, and SO delicious. And Wiki taught me that guavas have vitamins A and C, fiber, and omega-3s -- a superfood! Took me over a year to buy them because of some bad guava experiences in Taiwan, but those kind are so different (and so nasty) that I don't think they should even be categorized together.

  1. Yummm I love them to and wonder if they didnt help my whole gall bladder thing out a little. I was getting cravings for them and eating them a lot the couple weeks before I had that ultrasound. It took me a while to try them because of all the seeds but now I love them and gobble them up frequently. I also love to here my three year old ask for them she says it so cute.

  2. Yeah, the seeds were intimidating. I'm still hesitant to eat tunas because of the seeds, and they're just not as good as guayabas.

  3. I've become totally obsessed with passion fruit. The most amazing dessert I have EVER had is the nieve de maracuya at Photo Bistro on Amsterdam. I seriously daydream about it several times a day. To me, it is guava-esque but has extra lemony flavors to it that make it that more addictive.
